And ... should you hire one?!
You’ve probably heard of holistic medicine - an alternative to western medicine where both the mind and body are addressed. But have you heard of a holistic Personal Trainer? My guess is no.
A holistic Personal Trainer is someone who places equal importance on mental, physical and emotional health.
My clients are human beings (shocker right?!) with full lives outside the gym, ranging from young mums to seniors - and they experience emotional and mental ups and downs every day. This influences how I tailor my Personal Training sessions and means the women who work with me improve more than just their fitness and strength. My clients become empowered, their self-belief grows, their confidence skyrockets, their anxiety lessens, their negative body image fades.
Blending the physical, mental and emotional into one just makes sense – because you are so much more than your fitness!
After nearly a year off from lifting weights (due to a herniated disc), I recently started again - and it wasn’t as easy as I remembered!
It took a while, but I got my abilities and my confidence back.
However it just goes to show that “if you don’t use it, you lose it” (although I did have medical reasons!).
What have you lost along the way?!
You know when you go to Coles to buy milk and there’s 27 different types starting back at you and you don’t know which one to pick so you just go with whatever’s closest?
That’s exactly how I feel it might be when you're trying to find the right Personal Trainer. With literally thousands across Brisbane to choose from, how do you know who will be the best one for you?
